FAQ

  • I'm coming/just arrived to Denver with my family/alone, can I stay at Casa?

Unfortunately, we are not a shelter or a housing facility and we can not accommodate families or individuals for a long or short period of time. For shelters or housing options in Denver please visit UndocuHub or JustServe Denver

  • I need a lawyer. Can you guys help?

Our mission focuses on providing a temporary, safe landing for folx being released from the immigrant detention center at Aurora. We also send letters and commissary to those detained across the US. We do NOT have lawyers on staff. We advise that you visit our Resources page.

  • My family member is detained in an ICE facility, but I don’t know where. How can I find out where they are being detained?

You can locate a family member who is detained in an ICE facility using their full name and country of birth by using the Online Locator System.

  • I have a client who needs accompaniment to their USCIS appt, court, etc. Can you help?

While Casa has helped in the past, at this time we don’t have enough volunteers who are taking on these roles and due to the high numbers of people being released every day, we can not do that at this time.

  • Someone is going to be released from GEO in Aurora, can Casa pick them up?

Yes! Casa is outside of GEO, Monday through Friday excluding holidays waiting for folks to be released. We offer everyone a ride to Casa. They will have wifi and we have phones for them to use so they can call their loved ones to let them know they’ve been released.

  • My family member is detained in an ICE facility, but I don’t know when their next court date is. How can I find out when their next court date will be?

You can locate a family member’s next court date by entering their “A number”.

Unfortunately, we do not assist with that process. Please refer to either/both Immigrant Freedom Fund or with the Freedom For Immigrants and fill out their Support Request Form.

  • I want to donate clothing, supplies and/or food for Casa de Paz. Can I just drop off these donations without prior notice?

For detailed information on what we can accept, please follow our Donations Accepted document. As of 12/23/23, we are unable to accept any clothing donations. Donations are accepted Mondays, excluding holidays. We ask that any drop off is scheduled, so please email us to schedule your donation drop off: info@casadepazco.org and make sure you follow us on social media for the most up to date information.

  • I want to volunteer with Casa de Paz, but I do not live near Aurora, Colorado. Are there other ways I can volunteer?

Yes! You can visit our Target Wish List and provide items for our guests to use while they visit Casa de Paz upon their release. You can also become part of our program, Cartas de Paz, where you can become a Peace Pal to one of our detained friends.

  • How long can a Guest stay at Casa de Paz?

Unless we have a volunteer overnight host, guests are not able to stay overnight at Casa. If we do have a volunteer overnight host, a guest is allowed to stay at Casa de Paz for only one night.
