the welcome team

Casa de Paz welcomes immigrants recently released from ICE detention in Aurora, CO.

As soon as someone is released from ICE, our team is there with a warm welcome. We do not know when people are released but we are “open” Monday - Friday from 10:30am to 6:30pm.

For Our Guests:

  • healthy meals

  • telephone, computer, and WIFI access

  • clothing and backpacks

  • personal hygiene products

  • transportation to the airport or bus station

Our Volunteer Opportunities

Companion/Casa on wheels:

Waiting at the van (Casa on Wheels, COW) is an essential part of our team. We never know when people are going to be released so we wait at our welcome center making sure that we don’t miss those that are released.

When guests arrive we want to be sure that we explain that everyone needs to contact their sponsors and work towards purchasing a ticket. A companion helps guests make plans to move to their next destination. We need companions at all hours of the day.

Driver:

As a driver, you may be taking guests to the airport, hotel, or Union Station. Once guests have plans ready, we let you know what the current needs are when you arrive for your shift. In addition, we have an on-call drivers group where we reach out to drivers on an as-needed basis.

Meal Makers:

Our guests always enjoy a flavorful meal when arriving at Casa de Paz. Meals can be dropped off at Casa de Paz.
Food can be homemade, store-bought, or pizza delivery!

Cleaning Help:

Do you want to help us organize? We have donations too sort, clothes to put away, deep cleaning, etc. You may be asked to do dishes and other tasks around the house. This is also essential. Lots of people pass through Casa daily and weekly, we need your help keeping Casa clean!
