July Guests

Through sunshine and rain, this past month - 40 people were released from GEO! We welcomed 18 of them to Casa de Paz from 10 countries: China, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Morocco, Turkey, Venezuela, and Uzbekistan! Pictured above is beautiful artwork, handmade by a few guests and gifted to us upon their arrival to Casa de Paz.

Volunteer Spotlight

Though volunteer opportunities on our Welcome Team have been limited these past few months, we'd like to invite you to join our volunteer team today and have the opportunity to help us welcome newcomers, asylum seekers, and immigrants during hours that may be more convenient for you.

Thank you!
¡Gracias!

Thank you Damaris, Sarahi, Tim, and all of the Hecho En Westwood team for sharing your space and your community with us last month! Alongside the Immigrant Freedom Fund, we had a wonderful time, providing information and resources to our gente, all while enjoying delicious local food, pan dulce, and agua de tamarindo. Thank you!

Thank you Ozomatli & Las Cafeteras for allowing us to celebrate with you during your 30th year celebration tour! We are honored to have been invited to speak about Casa de Paz and the people that we serve at your concert this week. We will see you next time; ¡LA LUCHA CONTINÚA!

How To Guides

Over the last few months, we have heard from both families and detained individuals who seek support while in immigration detention. Our team has been working diligently to create and translate guides for our community. Our updated guides are step-by-step process of finding loved ones, sending commissary money, adding phone funds, visiting loved ones, and dropping off items for a loved one. Suggestions on additional guides? Perhaps you're available to translate guides in a language other than Spanish? We'd love to hear from you!

How You Can Support Us Today

Donations Accepted: Our team has been diligently putting backpacks together for both our released friends and deported friends; take a look at our updated Donations Accepted document.

Fundraising Event: Per TSA, guests that are released by ICE without proper identification are not being allowed to travel by air anymore and are having to take a bus back to their families. What used to be a 3 hour flight, has now turned into a 24+ hour trip. Consider hosting a fundraising event that includes a presentation on immigration detention by one of our team members.

Pizza Donation: Join our On-Call Pizza Donation Signal Group, where you message us to coordinate a pizza delivery donation.

Show your support: Check out our new shirt colors here! (Side note: Our new team fave one is the yellow with red text!)

Love coffee? Casa de Paz will earn $3 for every coffee bag sold at Coffee for the Cause, when you select us at checkout!
