February Newsletter
As we enter February, communities across the country are battling with rapidly escalating immigration enforcement. Over the past month, a significant surge in these operations has sparked intense debate, protests, and legal challenges nationwide. It's important that we come together as a community and continue to support one another. Above is a picture of a beautiful reunification between two loved ones, outside of our COW (Casa on Wheels).
In the month of January, our volunteers handed out 194 snack bags to families and we all welcomed 72 people being released from GEO, with 43 coming to Casa!
Seventeen countries were represented: Canada, Chad, Colombia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela.
Have You Heard?
As part of our advocacy efforts, we are putting out a monthly report with Welcome Team data. Check out November and December; January is coming soon!
A Statement From Casa de Paz
Stronger Together—Thank You
The immense support from our community this month has been not only incredible, but so humbling. We have received many words of support that mean so much to us. Thank you to every single one of you; from our Snacks and Love at Geo volunteers, to our Drivers, to our Pizza donors, to our small-business supporters who showed up and have offered to donate partial of your earnings to us; thank you.
Love will win.
Con agradecimiento,
Alondra Flores

DU's Latino Campus Organization
PODER
Thank you to DU's Latino Campus Organization PODER, who invited Casa de Paz to present last month! Afterwards, members and supporters put together over 30 backpacks filled with encouraging cards, toiletries, sock, beanies, and travel blankets for our guests.
Thank you!
Honorable Mention
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of a beloved community member. America Carbajal (blue shirt to the left) was an immigration rights advocate who for years, used her story to get others to get involved. In 2024, she participated in a play with the Romero Troupe to raise funds for Casa. We honor her and the legacy she leaves.
You can also listen to her share her story during Mujeres de Color in 2025.
Rest in peace, America.
