We learn about giving from our guests
Giving and receiving.
This Colorado Gives, we want to share a story of giving.
We learn about giving and receiving directly from those we serve.
Last week we welcomed "Eric". "Eric" was released from the immigrant detention center in Aurora, CO. He spent several months inside of the detention center. Even though, he was worked and contributed to this country for years, his lack of access to an immigration path, landed him in detention. He spent several months in detention and on the day of his release he made it to Casa de Paz. He was local, so his wife picked him up at Casa. He spent about a half hour with us, where he shared his story and thanked us for being there for him.
The next day, we heard a knock on our door. It was "Eric". He came with a cart full of supplies for the next guests. The thing is, it was more than just donations. He took the time to look for items that he noticed we used for our guests. His gift was not just a gift, it came with intention and love. Detention changes people's lives. Many wish to forget this chapter due to the pain that it brings. Our presence during "Eric's" time was so meaningful that he made it a purpose to give back on his first day of freedom.
Our guests show us what it is to give. To give with love. With intention.
